YAY! Another Blog Award!

I am SO excited!  I have just won another blog award!  I would like to accept this "A Blog with Substance" award from Emily at Mommy Made Green.  Thank you, THANK YOU!  I cannot tell you how much receiving these awards has meant to me.  It makes me feel so wonderful to know that someone out there is reading what I have to say! I am passionate about my subject matter and really have enjoyed meeting so many other bloggers.  So heartfelt thanks to Emily, and to all of you who read my blog.  Emily has a wonderful blog about green living. Please go and check it out!  Very interesting stuff!

There are two rules for accepting this award.  The first is that I have to sum up my blogging philosophy, motivation, and experience in 5 words:

• Ooh boy, this is REALLY hard!  I keep coming up with six words!  Eat healthfully and consciously. There, that is five words.  Really I would say, eat the way our great grandparents ate, but that is more than 5 words.  Teaching families to lead healthier lifestyles starting in the kitchen, also more than 5 words.  Cook with your kids, only four words.

Tell 7 things about yourself.

Hmm...this is a difficult one...7 things about myself...

1. I am bilingual in French and English.  I went to college in Normandie and have spent a French family in Paris (they are very close friends of my family and I consider them to be my family too).

2. I was a teacher for 8 years.  My first year I taught elementary English in France, then I returned to the United States I taught 3rd and 4th grade at the French Immersion School in Seattle.  I then taught French hight school French for 4 years.  

3. I was born and raised on the Eastside of Seattle.  I am a true Northwestern girl.  I LOVE the rain, the mountains, and the ocean.  The midwest and I don't really get along, even though I live in Iowa now.    

4. I LOVE STARBUCKS!  I call it "my little bit of Seattle in Cedar Rapids."  I go there almost daily and now Daniel recognizes it so if we pass by he points to it and says "Buck Bucks!"

5. I LOVE dinosaurs!  I can tell you pretty much anything about any dinosaur.  In fact, did you know that the Velociraptor is a name created by Michael Creighton for his book Jurassic Park?  The true name for the dinosaur called "Velociraptor" is Deinonychus which means "terrible claw."  Brontosaurus never existed.  The closest dinosaur to a Brontosaurus would have been a Diplodocus.

6. I was a synchronized swimmer for a long time when I was young.  

7.  Despite all my Foodie Mommie Rules, I LOVE Dairy Queen Blizzards and Tater Tots.  Haha, we all have to have something, right?
